It's these times when I'm really lazy, I think of all the convenient foods to eat. That are sooo nice in the states and in New Zealand. And err.. not so nice here. Well no offence, there are good convenient foods in Malaysia. But the err... Fisherman Fish Fingers cost around RM17 for a dozen of fingers. You could get 40 fingers for only NZD 6 (RM14) in New Zealand!!! and you could get a good mini tub ice cream for NZD 6 (RM15) which here costs about RM35 for a good Baskin Robbins tub. Sigh~
When I was small, back in the States, Mom would buy those frozen mini burgers which tastes owh so nice!!! They don't have 'em here.
In New Zealand, Maggi came out with an instant Mashed Potatoes Sachet. Again, not offered here.
Sometimes the simple food are the most yummiest. A simple white rice with fried omellete or sunny side up with chilli would be fantastic. Or maybe just a plate of white rice with sauteed chicken with pepper. Nothing complicated.
I remembered when I was busy with exams and assignments back in Wellington, all I did was pop a beef pie in the oven. Continued studying and after 20 minutes, went to get my dinner. Simple. Or when I would cook rice for the portion of 5 people for the whole house.. and then bake fish fingers or fish fillets in the oven. Ate fish fingers with rice and Nando's Peri Sauce with it. Nyum!! Didn't take a lotta time and hassle-free at that.
I think I'm complaining to much because I just spent 2 hours in the kitchen preparing Fish Sambal and Prawn Sambal to bring to my grandma and to bring to Vietnam next week. Yep.. the whole preparation took from 6pm to 8pm. And when it was al over.. my hair, smelt like Chilli and the mess in the kitchen! Owh Lordy!!
Though sometimes, the best meals are those that take hours and hours to prepare and to cook. And in the end, the satisfaction you get out of it. Is worthwile. But sometimes, all you need is simple, easy to cook, no hassle and err.. no smelly food. Hehe.
I want Pam's Fish Fingers!!! Can someone send some to me from New Zealand??!!! And Burger Fuel and Beef Pie and Cookie Time!!! Owh and those in the States: Some Tortilla Chips with cheese dips and Nerds and Snapple and Cherry Coke and Dr. Pepper and for god's sake, I want to go eat at Red Lobster!!!
Oh-kay, Oh-kay... So Malaysia is well known as THE Food Haven in Asia and sometimes in the World, because you could get almost anything from any country here. But somehow, they don't have those that I list above. Why? Why? Too much food to bring in I guess? Hehehe~
